How to use it

How it works
Your signature is drawn on a canvas, exported as a transparent PNG, and placed onto the page you chose at the size you set. The rest of the document is untouched — the text, the other pages, the form fields, all exactly as they were.
What this is, precisely. It is a picture of your signature on a page. That is the same thing you get by printing a form, signing it, and scanning it back — and it is what almost every request to "sign and return" is actually asking for. It is not a cryptographic signature. It carries no certificate, proves nothing about who drew it, and does not detect whether the document was altered afterwards.
The distinction matters because the word covers both, and only one of them is on offer here. If a contract needs to hold up in a dispute, or a regulator requires a qualified electronic signature, you need a service that issues certificates and timestamps — and that genuinely requires a server, because a certificate authority is a third party by definition. If a landlord wants a signed tenancy form back by email, this is exactly the right tool.
A note on the drawing itself: a phone or tablet produces a far better line than a mouse does. If your signature looks nothing like your signature, it is the input device rather than your handwriting. Some people keep a photograph of a real signature on white paper and trace it — that works too, though a drawn one is usually closer than people expect once they try it with a finger.
The whole operation happens in this tab. The document is read from your disk into memory, the signature never exists anywhere but your own canvas, and the result is offered back as a download. There is nowhere for either to be sent.
A worked example
A rental agency emails you tenancy-2026.pdf, six pages, with the line please sign page 6 and return. The usual route is to print it, sign it, find a scanner, and email back a crooked photograph.
Instead — fill and sign it here. Choose the file: the page number fills in as 6 on its own, because the last page is where a signature almost always goes. Draw your name in the box — on a phone, with your finger, which is worth doing even if you started on a laptop. Leave the placement on bottom right and the width around 180pt.
Press Sign the PDF. The preview shows page 6 with your signature on it, and the download is tenancy-2026-signed.pdf. The other five pages are byte for byte what the agency sent, which matters if anyone compares them later.
If it lands somewhere awkward, go back and change the placement or the width rather than signing again — each run starts from the file you picked, so nothing accumulates.
Questions
Is this a legally binding esign?
In many places a handwritten mark drawn on a document counts as an electronic signature and is accepted for ordinary agreements — but that depends entirely on your jurisdiction and on what the document is. What it is not is a qualified or certificate-based signature. It carries no identity proof and no tamper detection. If either of those matters, use a service built for it.
Can someone tell the signature was added digitally?
Yes, if they look. It sits as an image object in the PDF rather than as scanned page content, which anyone examining the file can see. That is normal and generally expected — a signed PDF returned by email is not usually assumed to have been printed.
Can I use a photo of my real signature instead of drawing one?
Not directly in this tool — it takes what you draw. If you have a photograph, the practical route is to trace it on screen. Most people find a finger on a phone gets closer to their real signature than they expect.
Can I sign more than one page?
Run it again on the result and pick the other page. Each pass starts from the file you give it, so signing page 6 and then page 3 gives you both.
Will it work on a phone?
It is better on a phone. The signature pad takes touch and stylus input, and a finger draws a much more natural line than a mouse — this is one of the few tools here that is genuinely easier on a small screen.
Is my contract uploaded anywhere?
No. The document is read into this tab and the signature exists only on a canvas in your browser. The site is static files with no backend, so there is no endpoint to send either to. That is worth more here than on most tools, since the documents people sign are usually the private ones.
Is Sign PDF free to use online?
Yes — free, with no account, no daily limit and no watermark. It runs online in your browser, and because the work happens on your own device it keeps working offline once the page has loaded.
